A Discone Antenna is an ultra-wideband, omnidirectional antenna featuring a disc radiator and cone ground plane, delivering smooth impedance and stable performance across VHF, UHF, and microwave bands. Originally developed for UHF aircraft communications, it now serves widely in radio communication, spectrum monitoring, scanning receivers, and EMC/EMI testing.

Its geometry provides multi-octave bandwidth, low VSWR, and uniform 360° coverage, enabling reliable wideband reception without tuning. While the design offers excellent bandwidth and compact size, its low gain limits long-range applications—but makes it ideal for laboratory, field, and monitoring environments requiring accurate wideband signal handling.
