Biconical Antennas
Broadband EMC & Field-Strength Solutions
Wideband, repeatable performance for EMC testing, field strength, and spectrum monitoring.
BICONICAL ANTENNAS
A Biconical antenna uses two opposing conductive cones joined at the apex to create a broadband dipole with exceptionally wide operating bandwidth—often three octaves or more—and stable impedance without tuning. Its geometry provides a smooth frequency response and an omnidirectional horizontal radiation pattern, making it ideal for multi-directional measurement environments.
Biconical antennas are widely used in EMC/EMI compliance testing, spectrum monitoring, wideband communications, and laboratory reference measurements due to their reliable broadband behavior and mechanical simplicity. Although the design offers low gain, it delivers the accuracy and repeatability required for broadband testing and field-strength measurements.
DIOON biconical models are engineered for low VSWR, stable radiation patterns, and precise wideband performance, with optional calibrated versions for certification-grade EMC applications.
